Dodge County Fairgrounds 4/22/06 Todd and Troy started the 2006 season by qualifying in the top six. Todd was 5th and Troy was 6th in time. In the first heat Todd started in the 3rd row along side World of Outlaw driver Craig Dollansky. Todd had a great start and went on to win the race. Troy made the top five to transfer to the A-main. In the A-main Todd and Troy were running in the top five when on lap three Todd spun comming out of turn four. The #28 battled through traffic to finish 8th. Troy would later spin in the same corner and would also have to battle through traffic to finish 11th.
Powercom Park 5/6/06 The IRA finally got a rain free night. Todd went out and qualified 9th. Troy didn't have as much luck because the track had already gone away. He ended up 30th in time. Both Todd and Troy finished in the top four to transfer from the heats to the A-main. The track was very dry and eventually took rubber which made passing hard. Todd started 10th but was in the lead by lap 10. He would go on to win the race with what seemed like a comfortable lead but would end up limping accross the start finish line due to front end damage after hitting the infield tire in turn four coming for the checkered flag. Troy had to start in the last row and was trapped in with slower cars but did end up finishing 16th. A very solid finish considering how hard passing was that night.
Wilmot Speedway 5/20/06 Troy took the night off but Todd took the opportunity to run a familiar track. Todd qualified 9th and in his heat he got a bad start. He fell back to about 7th or 8th but was able to fight his way back up to finish 4th. In the A-main it took him some time to get warmed up and move through traffic from his 5th row starting spot. He had made it up to 4th when a yellow came out for a fellow competitor and the that is when the rain started to come down. This time it was too hard and the race was unable to get back to green. So the race was called with only 7 laps to go. Todd was definately on his way to winning yet another race. Hepfner has off this weekend but will be back in action on June 3rd at Powercom Park with the IRA and Badger Midgets. Hope to see everyone out there!!
Powercom Park 6/3/06 Saturday brought Todd and Troy back to Powercom Park for the second of 4 races with the Badger Midgets. This time it was the midgets turn to qualify. This meant the sprintcars would be using the passing point system and lining up for the heat races by the pill draw. The draw would place Troy starting 8th, bad luck on the back stretch with a fellow racer would see Troy pit side early making for the start of a long night. Todd took advantage of his outside second row starting spot and was leading by lap 2 and never looked back taking the race win. Todd's win placed him second in passing points. The B-main would be all Troy needed to get the car back on track starting 17th and finishing 4th, placing him solidly in the feature. In the feature Troy would start 20th and work his way to 9th only to have it erased with a spin in turn 2. He raced back to a respectable 11th place finish. Todd started the feature 5th raced quickly up to 3rd. Todd would slip to 5th after getting slowed up behind a lapped car near the end of the race. This weekend will see the Hepfners racing at The Oshkosh Speedzone on friday.
Oshkosh Speedzone 6/9/06 Friday night started off great for both Todd and Troy. Todd would take the Osborn And Son Fast time award with Troy timing in 9th. Todd would start 6th in the first heat and end up 3rd. But this would all be washed away as mother nature would win the nights event at the start of the sprintcar second heat. The rain started to fall and making it to wet to continue. Todd and Troy will be racing this Wednesday at The Raceway at Powercom Park for The World of Outlaw event. Powercom Park 6/14/06 With The World of Outlaws rolling in to town for a quick stop at Powercom Park, Todd and Troy went racing on Wednesday to sharpen their skills against the best of the best. Time trials had Todd timing in 23rd and Troy getting 29th. The highlight of the night was Todd's heat race which he started on the pole and never looked back winning by about 5 car lengths. Troy would not be as lucky a bad starting spot in the heat race and very fast track would see not much passing keeping Troy from a transfer spot and he ended up 8th. Troy would be the next to race in the B-main, in which he started 9th and finished 8th ending his night. A-main time came and Todd started 22nd an illhandling car sidelined Todd early and gave him credit for 23rd finishing spot. The next race will be at sheboygan county fairgrounds on July 1st. Sheboygan County Fairgrounds 7/1/06 Saturday the rain would fall again on the IRA, but not until after the B main. In time trials Todd would pass a strong 4th with Troy not far behind in 11th. Next up not only racing the competition but also the weather the IRA would run their heat races. In the third heat race Troy would started 4th and end up 4th giving him a starting spot in the nights A-main. In the forth and final heat race Todd would start 6th and battle his way into a transfer spot. Only to have it taken away in heated battles with other drivers, Todd would end up 6th forcing him to run the B-main. With the rain and tornados getting closer the officials rushed the show along and got the B-main on the track. Todd would roll out on the pole. After leading most the race one slip up would find Todd ending up 2nd. With the IRA officials calling for the A-main cars to line up, the fire department was calling for everyone to go home because of a tornado warning ending the night early. The next race will be at Wilmot Speedway on July 8th. Wilmot Speedway 7/8/06 Kenosha County Fairgrounds played host to the IRA for the second time this season. Todd and Troy would both secure a spot in the A-main. They both finished 2nd in their heat races. In the A-main the Hepfners would meet in the middle. Todd's ill-handling car would see he falling back and Troy's car was working great sending him to the front. This would all change when the spinning car of Rick Kelsey ended up right in front of Troy ending his run early, giving him a 15th place finish. During the caution Todd would have time to adjust his car, making a big difference. He then started charging to the front, But would run out of laps and end up 3rd. The next stop for Hepfner Racing will be at Powercom Park on 7/15/06. Powercom Park 7/15/06 July 15th would mark the third race of three at Powercom Park in the Duel at the Dam with the Badger midgets. Starting off on a high note Todd would qualify 3rd. Missing on set-up a little Troy would qualify 16th. In heat race action Todd would start 6th with a quick charge to the front Todd would come up a little short and settle in for the second place finish. In the forth heat race Troy would start third and with very little passing in this heat race that is where he would end up. But it was all he would need to join his brother in the feature. With the track staying very fast, tacky, and rough, this would make for a great feature. Todd starting 5th had some work to do. Todd got to the front in just under 6 laps. He then began to stretch his lead out but the physically demanding track and heat was taking its toll on Todd. He was able to hold on for the win but only by a couple of car lengths at the line. Troy had a great run after starting 18th in the 22 car field. He made his way through traffic up to 9th place for yet another top ten finish.
